The Salvation Army is an international Christian organization that began its work in Canada in 1882 and has grown to become one of the largest non-governmental direct providers of social services in the country. The Salvation Army gives hope and support to vulnerable people today and every day in 400 communities across Canada and more than 130 countries around the world. The Salvation Army offers practical assistance for children and families, often tending to the basic necessities of life, provides shelter for homeless people and rehabilitation for people who have lost control of their lives to an addiction. Scouts Canada is the country’s leading co-ed youth organization, offering programming for children and youth aged 5-26. With over 50,000 youth participating across the country, in multiple languages and reflecting Canada’s multicultural landscape, kids and youth in Scouts chart their own path of discovery. Through a variety of fun experiences, outdoor adventures and contributions to their community, Scouts builds resilience and skills that set them up for life.

Welcome to the Seahawk Minor Football Club (SMFC). The SMFC is dedicated to promote & further the development of the sport of Canadian Tackle football for all residents of the South Shore area of Nova Scotia. Currently we offer tackle programs for Mite. Atom, Peewee, and Bantam players which covers ages 6 - 14. We also programs and camps from March to June for all ages. New this year is the Varsity Girls 18U 6-A-Side league for Females 15-18 years of age. All our programs are co-ed except for the Varsity Girls Program.

The Bridgewater Police Service believes that seniors are an integral part of our community, entitled to live in dignity and security, free of exploitation and abuse. While many seniors are active members of society, there are those that are vulnerable to crime and abuse because of poor health, low literacy, lack of independence, or age-related disabilities. The government of Nova Scotia’s departments of Seniors and Justice have provided funding to numerous communities, including Lunenburg County, for Seniors Safety programs.

SHAID Tree Animal Shelter is a registered charity (130169113RR0001) established in 1986. We provide temporary care and shelter to helpless animals in distress and place as many as possible into loving and responsible homes. We are proudly a no-kill shelter. We also strive to educate the public in responsible pet ownership and strongly promote the spaying and neutering of pets.

The South Shore District Soccer Association organizes the summer soccer league and consists of clubs across Lunenburg and Queens Counties.

South Nova Tai Chi is a group that offers exercise, health improvement and friendship. Formed in 2012, we are a local, volunteer operated group who practices the Tai Chi developed by Master Moy Lin Shin. We have a Board of Directors and an Executive. The South Shore Chorale is a non-auditioned community choir based in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia.
