ABOUT RECREATION
The goal of our community's approach to Recreation is to support a healthy, active, inclusive quality of life for residents of all ages, incomes, and abilities. This involves working to ensure all people living in, working in, or visiting our community have access to open space, parks, leisure and active living opportunities and facilities to enhance their quality of life.

Our Recreation team also provides administrative and strategic support for the Brookside Cemetery, managers Grants to Community Organizations and ProKids programs, and runs the Hodge Podge Community Garden

Special events that involve Recreation include the annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony and support for events and festivals for the community Canada Day on the LaHave; Christmas on the LaHave, Bikes for Kids, Heartland Tour, Canadian Tire Jumpstart Day, Fresh Air Films, and South Shore Kids Triathlon, just to name a few!

Recreation also coordinates the booking of Town-owned parks for special events (picnics, weddings, gatherings), and field usage. Private swim lessons and rentals at the outdoor pool are handled through Connect2Rec this year.
